Thank you for considering advertising with Focus.
The Over Wyre & Garstang Focus magazines trade as “Focus Magazines” and each is affectionately locally known as “The Green Book” due to their distinctive green covers.
Focus Magazines is a totally independent business – it’s not part of any company or large corporation, it’s not aligned to any local, district or county council, nor to any trade or residents’ organisation nor is it a franchise.
It’s simply run by two local people who want to encourage their local communities to use local businesses and services and unlike some ‘local’ magazines which are primarily advertising based, Focus allocates about 50% of the available page space to community articles and to interesting features, recipes, a monthly quiz, etc to inform and to enhance readers’ enjoyment.
The Over Wyre Focus was launched in November 1999 followed by the Garstang Focus in September 2000 and they have both gone from strength to strength becoming well established parts of the communities they serve.
The Over Wyre Focus is home delivered to most of the homes in Hambleton, Stalmine, Knott End on Sea, Preesall and Pilling and the Garstang Focus is home delivered to most of the homes in Scorton, Cabus, Garstang, Bonds, Bowgreave, Catterall, Churchtown and St Michaels on Wyre.
Serving a semi-rural community it is impossible for us to deliver to every single home so additional copies are left at specific locations within each delivery area for readers outside our delivery area to collect. The Garstang and Knott End Libraries are two of these locations and in addition they each operate a recycling scheme whereby residents can return their current issues of Focus, when read, for others to collect and use.
To reach a wider audience, the latest and previous two issues of the magazines are always available on-line from our website.
Feedback from residents about the advertisers and the features is very positive; after all most of us prefer to support local businesses when we have the choice. The wealth of local information and our popular “What’s On” section means that many residents keep their copies until the next issue arrives. The chances are you will see a copy of Focus languishing by the phone or in the kitchen in many homes across the area where it is used as a local trade directory.
We prefer not to carry clip coupons or vouchers within adverts which requires readers to cut them out because we feel that this is unfair to the advertisers using the other side of the page. However if you do wish to include one then please discuss this with us first and we will see if it can be accommodated with editorial content on the reverse.
The observation of Copyright Law is important to us and strictly observed to the best of our abilities. As a condition of advertising with us we ask that advertisers carefully read our Terms & Conditions which fully explains who does what and what can and cannot be done within an advertising remit.
So if you're a local business and you want more customers why not send us an email or give us a call and let us suggest how The Green Book can help you to promote your business to local people. With prices starting from just £28 + vat per issue, we really are affordable to most types of business. It’s little more than the cost of a loaf of bread each day.
